  • Final Fight 2 - by Supreme-Court

    Introduction:

Mayor Haggar of Metro City returns in this SNES-exclusive sequel, Final Fight 2, with two new comrades by the names of Maki and Carlos. Guy's fiancee and master had been kidnapped by a newly-reorganized Mad Gear gang, complete with a new leader. The trio of heroes set out on a quest to search the world to save Guy's loved ones.

    Graphics [7/10]:

There really wasn't that much of improvements over its predecessor. Although the graphics are still good and the backgrounds are still detailed, it doesn't have the impact of the first Final Fight. The first Final Fight's graphics were considered to be eye candies while this one is merely a brush-up from the first. The backgrounds now have more activities, such as photo-realistic jets flying across the sky leaving a trail of smoke.

    Sound & Music [8/10]:

The audio in this game is slightly improved over Final Fight, but at the same time it was dropped by half a point simply because by the time this game came out, there were other games with better audio experiences already. The smacks grunts and yells are still here, but this time around the yells are somewhat weaker. The sound Andores usually make before they make a charge at you is gone too, so if they are far off the screen, you won't know that they are coming until you're actually attacked. The music is still pulse-pounding and atmospheric, just like the first one's soundtrack...

    Gameplay/Fun Factor [9/10]:

Learning from its mistake from fans' complaints, Capcom addressed a major problem with the first Final Fight: two player mode. This time around, you and your buddy of choice could really cooperate together in a fight instead of wishing for the other person to mess up and die (that way, it would be your turn). This adds tremendous amount of replay value to this game since you and your friend could just each take up half a screen, fight whoever comes out from the edge of the screen while having a friendly competition of survival.

    Conclusion/Overall [9/10]:

This game is Capcom's way of saying "sorry" to the fans. It implemented everything the gamers asked for and griped about the first Final Fight. Two player mode, three characters, this game, if released in the place of Final Fight one, could have helped to establish the entire Final Fight series to become a must-have for any gamer's library. If you are a fan of side-scrolling fighters, this game is highly recommended.
